Overview

We are looking for a dynamic and technically proficient Service Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical support and service to our clients, while also actively contributing to the growth and development of our service division. This role is based in Utrecht, Netherlands and may include up to 100% travel.

Responsibilities

Technical Support: Provide expert technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automation systems and equipment for customers across various industries.

Remote support: Remotely conduct diagnostics, troubleshoot problems, and implement solutions.

Field Service:

  • Travel to client sites to perform installations, repairs, and upgrades on automation systems.
  • Correction of complex problems/malfunctions to PLC/SCADA and/or computer-controlled installations.
  • Failure analysis in automation via online diagnosis. Investigate the root cause of failures and take the appropriate corrective actions.

On-call: Provide availability for and respond to critical technical issues during designated on-call periods.

Documentation: Maintain detailed records of service activities, including reports, maintenance logs, and equipment manuals.

Training: Conduct training sessions for clients and internal teams on the use and maintenance of automation systems.

Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and new technologies to improve service offerings.

Sales and Business growth: Drive business growth by providing exceptional service and fostering strong client relationships.

  • Experience in troubleshooting and working with 3rd party support services
  • Experience with electrical and instrumentation diagrams (including block diagram, connection diagrams and instrument loops).

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience in the automation industry, including technical support and service
  • Minimum 5 yrs. experience in an automation role in an industrial setting
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook
  • Professional level English (C1, C2, or Native)
  • Ability to work in The Netherlands and other European countries without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with one or more of the following platforms:
    • Inductive Automation Ignition
    • Rockwell ControlLogix/CompactLogix, PlantPAx, or FactoryTalk
    • Emerson DeltaV
    • Schneider Electric Modicon PLCs, EcoStruxure, PowerSCADA, or Power Monitoring Expert (PME)
    • AVEVA System Platform or AVEVA PI Historian System
    • Siemens S7, PCS7, or WinCC
    • Other: VMWare, Cisco or Fortinet Networking and Firewalls
